PRP Micro Needle Therapy

Micro Needling with PRP is a two step process that treats the skin. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is obtained from the patient through a blood draw and used in conjunction with the SKIN PEN by Bellus Medical.

Controlled micro-injuries are made in the skin with the Skin Pen, the most advanced medical grade automated micro-needling device. SKIN Pen is medical grade and allows the provider to alter the needle depth and frequency according to individual skin types and conditions. The platelet rich plasma and red blood cells are separated. PRP is rich in protein messengers and growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen. PRP serum is applied onto the skin during the micro needling process.

PRP with micro-needling stimulates growth factors to decrease inflammation, remodel collagen and strengthen vessel walls within the dermis. As part of the body’s healing ability, platelets and other components in human blood migrate to the point of care. Platelets are well known to release numerous growth factors that respond to tissue injury and initiate the conditions for healing. The typical patient will experience reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, acne scars, stretch marks, hyper pigmentation and improved skin tone.

The PRP Micro Needle procedure takes approximately 60 minutes. Pain, redness and bruising can occur. Pink skin is typical for the first 2 days and patients follow a specific protocol 1-2 days post procedure. Three to four treatments are recommended four to six weeks apart. Gradual improvement occurs and Collagen I continues to form for up to six months after the procedure.
